Exterior Staining and Wood Preserve
Many homes in Albuquerque have wood beams, vigas and columns. These natural surfaces need to be protected. There are several types of clear and semi-transparent coatings available. Varnishes give good protection and water resistance, but can crack and peel over time. Wood Preservatives penetrate the pores of the wood leave a thin film for protection. The thin film will be burned off by the sun. You can then recoat with a minimum of preparation. This should be done ever 2 to 3 years. Preservatives can be clear, semi-transparent or solid stains.
